联想步戴尔后尘 宣布提供Linux版ThinkPad

    8月7日消息，联想集团和Novell公司日前宣布，ThinkPad不久将向用户提供预装SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 (SLED)的选择。虽然联想的这款畅销笔记本电脑获得Linux认证已有一些日子，但这个宣布意味着联想将首次推出预装Linux的笔记本。
    
    据国外媒体报道，联想称在其笔记本上提供Linux的决定是迫于来自企业客户的压力。联想副总Sam Dusi在一份声明中说：“自我们的ThinkPad T60p Linux宣布以来，愈来愈多来自教育领域、政府部门和企业的客户在利用并要求我们提供预装开源软件的笔记本电脑。我们将扩大我们的计划，向客户提供更多Linux选择。”
    
    自今年第四季度起，SUSE将出现在联想T系列ThinkPad（联想的企业级笔记本电脑）上。出来操作系统不同外，SUSE ThinkPad将在其它各个方面与运行Windows的ThinkPad别无二致。
    
    联想是业内第二家主要的电脑硬件制造商开始销售Linux笔记本。在它之前，戴尔已开始在其包括Inspiron笔记本在内的一系列电脑上预装Ubuntu Linux 7.04。
