R3的出现让大家眼前一亮，在数码相机发展已经比较成熟的时候可以开发出便携长焦这样的机型的确是个相当不错的创意。而且从R3开始，理光就为7.1倍的大变焦镜头配备了光学防抖功能。而且在双回缩镜头的焦段上也作了一定的考量，从28mm广角到200mm长焦的范围足够应对日常的大多数拍摄。

之后的R4和R5在R3的基础上作了进一步的优化，修正了一些设计上的不足，提高了像素等拍摄性能。不过总体的布局设计依然保持了R3的特质。现在市场上R5和R4共存，加上还有一些零星的R3，“三代同堂”的R系列让消费者挑花了眼，综合性价比之后R4目前最有购买意义，机器的设计比较成熟，价格也较R5便宜了不少。
