数年前大红大紫的Palm OS虽然目前已经是强弩之末，但是在国内有相当一大批忠实的用户，他们的手机也是Palm OS的代表机型——Treo系列智能手机，包括Treo 650和Treo 680，以及最新上市的Palm Centro。Palm OS目前的最新版本为5.5.9，其所有权已经卖给了日本的ACCESS公司，以后发展的方向是和Linux结合，融合为一种新的平台，被ACCESS称为“Access Linux Platform （ALP）”。

Palm OS的最大优点就是界面简单、系统反应速度快，应用软件丰富。它目前在五大操作系统中是反应速度最快的，应用软件最丰富的，这也正是在它前途未卜的情况下，国内外还有很多忠实用户的原因之一。不过，由于Palm OS的软件过多，用户在选择时的余地很大，而又不可避免的会碰上冲突问题，Palm OS的上手需要一定的时间，并且在浏览互联网方面，Palm OS的内置浏览器表现很一般。
