在克丽奥佩特拉执政期间发生了历史上有名的“亚历山大图书馆大火案”，这座当时世界首屈一指的图书馆毁于一旦。亚里士多德和柏拉图的手稿估计就在其中，有一个房间里放的全是荷马的作品。身为推崇科学的“埃及艳后”，克丽奥佩特拉的悲伤是不难想像的。不幸中的万幸是：她最后找回了20万册文稿。具有讽刺意味的是，克丽奥佩特拉以美貌蜚声于当今天下，而智慧才是她最值得称道的资产。
