夏威夷短尾乌贼
在深海黑暗之处,一些动物能够自己产生光线,其中夏威夷短尾乌贼(学名为“Euprymna scolopes”)就是其中一种,它们能够与发光细菌“Vibrio fischeri”形成共生关系,它在一个特殊的光器官内寄宿着这些细菌,可以控制照明强度和方向。但是该器官能够形成更多的光线,它所产生的神经信号能够感受到光线存在,并且其内部装载的蛋白质能够探测到光线。这个光线器官事实上是一对原始眼,装配着自己的“虹膜”和“透镜”。看上去就像这种乌贼装配着活生生的一对“可视手电筒”。
