丹尼斯·艾弗里也表示：“如果真的在乎野生动物，不应该一味否定现代的机械化农业，如工业化肥，而是要支持生物工艺学，特别是致力于高产农业的研究。”所以，虽然从长远来说，气候变化会导致生物的灭绝，但是“零灭绝联盟”所列出的生物面临着更多的眼前威胁，包括人类对食物的渴望。我们还不清楚将来的技术是否能够减弱气候变化带来的威胁，但是除非我们马上行动，否则这些濒危生物将不会围绕在人类身边，而且为人类造福。
